Acura Unveils Performance EV Concept

New concept previews Acura's first EV built on a Honda-developed platform

Monterey Car Week is here and Acura is the first to take the wraps off of something all-new. This Performance EV previews a new model that will debut next year, and is estimated to begin deliveries in late 2025. This future model will be produced at Honda's EV Hub in Ohio, and will be the first to be built on an all-new Honda EV platform.

The current Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue are just arriving in driveways now, but these EVs are co-developed using GM's Ultium battery platform. While that helps Honda and Acura cut the line in EV development, they have yet to produce an EV of their own with their own technology, and that's what this new concept is showing us for the first time.

This coupe-like SUV also previews new design cues that will make their way into future Acura vehicles. One of those elements may be the bold new front fascia, which Acura says is inspired by hydrofoil super-yachts. Other design details include a vented hood, sculpted origami-like vents down the side of the vehicle, and an upswept decklid with full-width taillight and a large diffuser said to pay homage to the second-generation Acura NSX (we think it looks a little more like the Lotus Emira but that's not a bad thing).

No details yet on performance specifications, which we suspect more will follow when the production-intent vehicle is shown next year.
