BMW has lifted the curtain on their 2024 5 series sedans, and for the first time the lineup will include fully-electric variants alongside their internal combustion siblings. The i5 fills out BMW's sedan range alongside the smaller i4 and larger i7.
The i5 comes in two electric flavors: there's the rear-wheel drive eDrive40, which offers 335hp and an estimated 295 miles of EV range, and the more powerful all-wheel drive M60 xDrive, with a 590 hp electric motor and an estimated range of 256 miles. Both models come standard with a 12.3-inch Information Display behind the steering wheel and a 14.9-inch Control Display, as well as a variety of other advanced features like Highway Assistant, which allows attentive hands-free driving at up to 85 mph, and Active Lane Change with eye activation (that's right, you can confirm a lane change by glancing in the side-view mirror). Also, in a somewhat surprising move, now you can play video games on the center screen of your BMW.
The new BMW 5 Series is available now, with prices starting at $66,800 for the i5 eDrive40. The i5 M60 xDrive starts at $84,100.
