Lamborghini Previews Lanzador: An All-Electric "Ultra GT"

The first fully-electric model from Lamborghini will go onsale in 2028

Behold the Lanzador, the first fully-electric anything from Lamborghini. We say "anything" because this is truly Lambo's first EV, but also because this "Ultra GT" is trying to be a bit of everything.

Lamborghini says this is a new category of vehicle, the "Ultra GT", designed to "offer customers a new, unparalleled Lamborghini driving experience thanks to pioneering technologies". That's a little vague, but what we think they mean is this is part SUV, part 2+2 sports car, part electric supercar but every bit a Lamborghini.

It certainly looks the part, with its aggressively angular lines and flared nostrils. They've even given us a hint of Countach here if you know where to look, with its wedge-y shapes, "Gandini" (asymmetrical) wheel arches and peek-a-boo rear tires from rear-looking view. It's both a clean design and very bold, and we think one of the most successful Lamborghini has shown us in some time.

Lamborghini has given us some detail, but with a release date a full 5 years away these could certainly change before the Lanzador finds its final form. They've mentioned 1 megawatt of power, which would mean over 1,300 horsepower. It has active aero, able to adjust splitters and diffusers toward efficiency or performance. The suspension is also active, with air springs, adaptive dampers and rear-axle steering (plus torque vectoring). This should should go around corners just fine.

On the inside, we have a 2+2 seating arrangement with a decadently futuristic cockpit full of ambient lighting, personal screens, and some renewable materials like Merino wool, recycled nylon and 3D-printed recycled plastics. Curiously, the seats are also more-sustainably stained with Olive Oil, and how Italian is that?

If you're wondering how much all of this costs, well, you know what they say about asking... but we have no answer to give just yet. Stay tuned as we get closer to 2028...
