Kia have given us our first look at the production version of their EV5 all-electric compact SUV, which we expect to be available in the U.S. sometime next year (there is no official word on timing).
The EV5 is the smaller sibling of the 7-seater EV9, and the family resemblance is clear. This is a bold and handsome design direction from Kia, and their tall box shape should mean a lot of practicality for families.
Details are pretty slim on this one, with no word yet on pricing, EV range, charge speeds, efficiency, or trim levels. We did learn that the cabin's ambient lighting will change to alert you if you've strayed over the speed limit, which sounds like a particularly useful feature for backseat drivers.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
