Tesla's Supercharger Network Is Now Open To Rivian Vehicles

Starting today, Rivian R1T and R1S owners can use Tesla Superchargers, if they have the adapter.

Rivian owners can now charge their R1T and R1S vehicles at (most) Tesla Supercharger locations. Rivian becomes the second automaker to gain access, along with Ford.

To charge, Rivian drivers will need their own NACS to CCS1 adapter. Unlike Ford, Rivian has not announced a program to provide adapters to existing owners. Owners will have to seek out their own, like this one from A2Z Charging.

It appears Rivian's Plug & Charge works with Tesla's network, meaning owners don't need Tesla's app for payment or initiation - just pull up and plug in.

This opens up over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers to Rivian owners, including all V3 and up units. Rivian owners will not be able to use older V1 and V2 units, as these are a different incompatible protocol. A quick way to determine whether a unit is V3 or up is to filter your preferred charge app by speed, V3 units will be 250 kW, older units will not.

We are expecting more automakers to gain access this spring, including Polestar and Volvo. We'll let you know when the network goes live for these vehicles.
